THE RISE AND FALL OF APC.
Massive turnout at every polling booth all over the country "Sai Buhari?", *Say Baba", "APC"? "Change", that was the slogan as market women both young and old excersised their civic rights, laughter here and there, we were all expecting A NEW DAWN. Nigerians couldn't wait to hear the winner though it was obvious GMB had the most votes, infact some people had planned a public protest if the result is otherwise. Prostitutes promised free sex, fishermen promised free fish, every trader promising various commodities, even my workaholic boss suspended production of bread to enable him have the much needed time to vote. Nigerians queued ambitiously under the very hot sun chanting "We want CHANGE" such was the hope we placed on the incoming government.
Change finally arrived after GMB was declared president, market women danced in the street of Lagos, everybody was happy, we've gotten our "change" even my dad slaughtered our only chicken to celebrate this so called "victory". Now we can enjoy 24hours electricity, the price of fuel will eventually come down, unlimited jobs, 5000 naira for unemployed graduates, reminiscing on all the promises, in a matter of years Nigeria would become an haven I thought.
Just 6 months into PMB's tenure, everything changed drastically from bad to worse, and it eventually grew to worst, all our hopes had been tarnished, the price of everything increased, hunger became our closest ally but our Unhealthy president keeps touring countries like a musician during concerts, yet we never stopped believing. The blames were shifted to the predecessors and due to our ignorance we believed them. We waited and waited for the "change" but the country just keeps deteriorating in every aspect.
To cut this short, APC had betrayed our trust and really doesn't deserve a second chance, they made us anxious for their governance,we expected saint but encountered devil, they promised paradise but provided hell, APC is worse than thieves, they should be awarded "scam of the year",they rose like Jesus did in the tomb but fell like the wall of Jericho. Nigerians can't wait to vent their anger come 2019,may God spare our lives.
Moral of the story: Do not make promises you can't fulfill, do not raise the hope of man and eventually rub it in the sand. Empty promises mar your personality, LEARN FROM THE RISE AND FALL OF APC. Till another day, I drop my pen.
