It's another beautiful write up from our Nurse on Duty, Kikelomo Sowore who has once again in her usual spice of humour clarified issues about the subject matter.
Enjoy reading.

I can’t believe people are still doing ‘’God forbid’’ to Caesarean Section (CS) in this year of Nurses and Midwives . Hian!
I told a woman she could do a CS if her condition won’t be okay for a normal delivery.
She almost burnt me with the fire of God.😂
‘’Person wey say I no go born with my yansh as my mama born me, na fire go burn am in Jesus name,God forbid opreshun!’’.
I had thought some days were over ;
Days when we have a Surgical team working tirelessly to have successful Caesarean section and relatives of patients praying tirelessly for a surgery to be reversed and baby pullover , oh baby pullover - Ha,olorunmaje ka rogun oprieshon !
Those days ,when you tell someone you have a child from a C-section,it’s as if you have come to their throne of mercy. They will shower you with sympathy.
‘’Ha,o ma se o,epele,eyah,hmmn,oga ,’’.Even if the child is already a teen,they will still give that pity look and shake their heads 5 times per minute. Do they think children born through C-section will dwell in the theatre forever ? Or maybe live by the knife of the surgeon?
Some feel that C-section weakens bond between mother and child. There’s no known proof of ‘’electrovalency’’ of vagina delivery. In Nigeria,likely factors affecting emotional bonding of a mother to her baby at first few hours of the baby’s life is the sex of the baby,position of the baby in the family (Apart from the health status of the mother and baby).Just negodu having 6 girls already and the new born is also a female😀. At an hour,the bond becomes van Der Waal. 🤣.
Nevertheless,people really need to know the indications for Caesarean section. Why is it needed?
The reasons could be from the mother or the Baby which may sometimes be life threatening conditions:
1. Emergency section;
Mother bleeding before delivery
Placenta previa: Placenta covering the birth way. No road for baby to take pass comot?
Theatre ya o!
1. Malpresentation : The most common body part a baby comes with is the head. It’s usually easy for a woman to push through this from the vagina.
But all babies don’t come that way, some come with their buttocks , what the Oyinbos call Breech Presentation; they come with their yansh to the vagina like they want to hail the gods of the land. Ha,aye mo ju ba o.
2 : When Baby’s Head is too big to fit into the pelvis. Opa meta o to fila of the Baby. Sometimes ,it’s from the mother,her pelvis may be too small to accommodate the passing of the baby.
3: Fetal conditions such as distress,low birth weight etc
4 In multiple pregnancy; triplets,quadruplets etc
5 Maternal conditions such as infections ,hypertensive problems
6: Elective: Some people just don’t want to go through labor .They just want to relas and be taken kiaruf.
So give Caesar things that are Caesar’s when necessary .😀
It’s better for some women to have a Caesarean section when relaxed than to suffer the stress of awaiting a vaginal delivery.
Calling Pastors,Imams and taking concoction has been the usual intervention. Pray,but then do the needful . C-section is not a curse. It’s a surgical intervention to a problem.
Y’all need to stop rehearsing on how you will tell the congregation on how you escaped a a Surgeon’s knife (CS) and you had a normal delivery ,when we are all know you had a vagina tear that could not be sutured by obioma.
Please, e jor,Invest in more testimonies like how God delivered you from NCDC daily messages and how he escaped you from Yoruba pepper.
Abi which of these goodness can you deny?
