Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight. It shows whether you are underweight, overweight or obese.
It also shows the ‘’Na God save me’’ lane.
With your calculator, you can determine which next level you are.
It is calculated by dividing the weight in kilograms by the height in meters squared.
For example, if you weigh 48, and your height is 1.56.
Your BMI will be :
48/1.56 x1.56
= 48/ 2.43
= 19.7
This BMI of this person is 19.7.
The desirable or healthy range is between 19 and 24.9 .
Body weight lesser than 19 is underweight
19- 24.9 is healthy
25-29.9 is overweight
30 -39.9 Obesity
Greater than 40 is Gross Obesity
So from the example above, you would understand that the person weighing 48, with height 1.56 , with the BMI of 19.7 is healthy, though at the ‘’Na God save me’’ level.
But then, you can’t predict People’s BMI by merely looking at them at times. Some people will just have a normal weight and gbam, their height will betray them while calculating BMI 😀
For example,a taller person (let’s say 1.60) with same weight (48) will be underweight.
Han han, small maths, your head is scatteringoninown !🧐But If na 4 +4 now, you won’t need abacus.🤣
The aim of BMI is to know your health status. The underweight, overweight and Obese categories can lead to long term health problems. Overweight and Obesity are major risk factors for a number of chronic diseases such as Diabetes, Cardiovascular diseases (Hypertension, stroke) and Cancer.
Being underweight can represent as many health concerns to an individual as being overweight can. If a person is underweight, their body may not be getting the nutrients it needs to build healthy bones, skin, and hair.
Well, you can only work on your weight. Your height is constant, whether you are ‘’down to earth’’ or ‘’people are looking up to you’’. You can’t do anything about your height.
