OLOTA INAUGURATES PERSON LIVING WITH DISABILITIES (PWD) AS THE COORDINATOR OF ADO-ODO/OTA CIVIL SOCIETY GENDER BASED VIOLENCE ADVOCACY GROUP
The Executive Committee of the Ado-odo/Ota Civil Society Gender Based Violence Advocacy Group was inaugurated by the Olota of Ota, His Royal Highness, Oba (Professor) Adeyemi Abdulkabir Obalanlege, Lanlege Ekun II, Arole Iganmode-Ogunfunminire on Monday, July 5, 2021 at his palace in Otta. The Executive Committee members are Muijdat Okunola as the Coordinator and Chair Person of the Group, Comrade Abayomi Oke Asiwaju as the Deputy Coordinator and Comrade Adebayo Saliu as Secretary of the Group.
The Olota charged the group to embark on massive sensitization and awareness campaign to reduce the incidence of Gender Based Violence which is on the increase in the society. The Coordinator of the Ado-odo/Ota Civil Society Gender Based Violence Advocacy Group, Miss Mujidat Okunola is a Person Living with Disabilities (PWD). In her response, she appreciated the Kabiesi for his fatherly supports. Miss Mujidat also appreciated African Foundation for Environment and Development (AFED) for creating the Citizens Group which she said will add a lot of value to the society beyond Ado-odo/Ota Loca Government.
Mr. Adeshola Afariogun, the Executive Director of African Foundation for Environment and Development (AFED) thanked the Olota for his continued supports for developmental initiatives in Otta. Mr. Afariogun commended the Steering Committee under the leadership of Mrs. Toyin Ndidi-Taiwo for laying a solid foundation for the Group.
The Ado-odo/Ota Civil Society Gender Based Violence Advocacy Group has carried out GBV Sensitization and Awareness Campaign at NASFAT and Mountain of Fire Ministries (MFM) in Ota. The Group has also intervened in several GBV cases in Ado-odo/Ota metropolis.
