The DG Nigerian Books of Record, Dr. David David, announces his latest achievement. In 2022 alone, the eminent researcher who is also the founder of the first Nigerian encyclopaedia of indigenous records, has earned four honorary professorial awards from prestigious academic facilities in the US, Croatia, India and Nigeria, ten honorary doctorate degrees from different institutions around the world and eight ambassadorial awards from credible establishments.

He made the announcement yesterday in Abuja while addressing the press on his forthcoming birthday on the 26th of December, 2022. During the briefing, he displayed over twenty honorary titles from credible institutions which he had received this year due to his contribution in indigenous research records to the institutions. The honours ranging from honorary professorial awards from universities in US, Croatia, India and Nigeria, honorary doctorate degrees and ambassadorial awards.

The awards came in appreciation of his 2022 #nbrnationaltour, where he toured states in Nigeria, universities, academic facilities both inside and outside the country with the sole aim of exhibiting his research collections and establishment of indigenous research collaborations. “The year 2022 has been the most engaging year since my advent into historical research. During the just concluded 2022 #nbrnationaltour, I have been privileged to contribute to establishment of indigenous record keeping culture in several universities, academic facilities and institutions where these records have been swept away,” he said during the briefing.

The new Professor believes that historical records have for long been recognized as the best way to address the myriad of societal problems confronting the society. In his statement, he said “Those constantly fuelling ethnic crisis in Nigeria, for instance, need to be taught their history. They need to know about the lost of innocent lives from 6th July, 1967 to 15th January, 1970. We need to learn our story so as to learn unforgettable lessons. That’s what we are informing the institutions. You have to make these records available to the young people. Cultural heritage is a stimulant to building a sustainable society.”

He maintained that the challenge of a new Nigeria has placed a big responsibility on every Nigerian to join the clarion call of the Nigerian Government to spread the message of value re-orientation and social harmony.

When asked about the impact of his well publicized NBR project in positioning Nigeria in a positive light so that the international community will have no choice but to acknowledge the positive impacts Nigerians have in the world, the new professor admits that, the Nigerian Books of Record collections has so far assisted in reinventing a positive image of Nigeria internationally with Nigeria’s best. “It is an ongoing project. You know, Rome was not build in a day. We cannot take any credit at this point because all hands are on deck, both governmental and non-governmental agencies. We are all looking forward to having a country where hosts flourish and visitors feel at home. Nigerian Books of Record identifies influential and well respected impact makers, record breakers and notable achievers of the Nigerian origin who have channelled their influence to create positive impact in the lives of people. That’s the record we are presenting to the world. That we have wonderful things happening in Nigeria,” he said.

“Given the current technology-driven nature of the global system and the emerging techno-lexicon of globalization, it is equally important to respond positively to such issues of national interest,” he added.

Like Guinness Book of Record, Prof David emphasized during the briefing, the primary focus of Nigerian Books of Record is to recognize and immortalize Nigerians who have made remarkable achievements in their chosen professional callings to break the gap between history and achievers in Nigeria.

He also stated that hardworking, zealous, industrious and selfless minds in the Nigerian societies are celebrated as ethic exemplars and that such individuals in Nigerian Books of Record are elevated and positively positioned as role models for future generations to emulate and accentuate the value system of the Nigerian society.
