World Environment Day: Ado-Odo/Ota LG Chairman Receives Kingdom Ark Students
As the world marks World Environment Day today 5th of June, 2024, the students of Kingdom Ark College, Atan-Ota, paid a visit to Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Secretariat. They were warmly welcomed by the Chairman of the Local Government, Engineer Sheriff Musa.
During the visit, the Department of Water and Environmental Sanitation provided an enlightening lecture aimed at inspiring the students to become advocates for a clean, safe, and healthy environment. The lecture was delivered by Sanitarian Akinbowale Opeoluwa and Sanitarian Akintade Rose on behalf of the department.
Engineer Sheriff Musa emphasized the crucial importance of celebrating World Environment Day. He urged the students to actively promote a cleaner and safer environment, stressing that securing the future depends on the actions taken today to protect our planet.
Earlier, the Spokesperson of the Council Chairman, Asiwaju Abayomi Oke had introduced the Local Government to the students. He narrated the history of the Local Government to the students and mentioned the names of all the over twenty Chairmen that have governed the Local Government since her creation thirty five years ago.
While responding, the students appreciated the Council Chairman for the warm reception and enlightenment. According to one of the students, Agbaje Esther, she described the event as a day of learning and inspiration which will encourage her and her peers to take proactive steps towards a greener future.
Other Council officials present at the event include, the Secretary to the Local Government Mr. Abiodun Akonthe-Sejoro, the Supervisor for Environment, Honourable Kike Adebowale, the Supervisor for Community Development, Mrs Ibikunle Tunrayo and the Supervisor for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Deaconess Sarah Oduneye.
